Biography
Dr. Yinhai Wang is a professor in transportation engineering and the founding director of the Smart Transportation Applications and Research Laboratory (STAR Lab) at the University of Washington. He also serves as director for Pacific Northwest Transportation Consortium (PacTrans), USDOT University Transportation Center for Federal Region 10. Dr. Wang is the 2018-2019 president of Transportation & Development Institute (T&DI) at American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and a member of the IEEE Smart Cities Technical Activities Committee. Dr. Wang’s active research fields include traffic sensing, transportation safety, e-science of transportation, big-data analytics, traffic operations and simulation, smart urban mobility, etc. He has published over 170 peer-reviewedjournal articles and delivered more than 180 invited talks and nearly 280 other academic presentations. Also, he serves as a member of the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Computing Committee of the Transportation Research Board and associate editor for three journals, including Journal of Transportation Engineering Part A, Journal of Intelligent Transportation Systems, and PLOS One. He was the winner of the ASCE Journal of Transportation Engineering Best Paper Award for 2003 and Institute of Transportation Engineer (ITE) Innovation in Education Award for 2018.
