BSECE Admissions Statistics
Applications to the BSECE major are reviewed holistically. All aspects of a student’s application are reviewed when determining admission into the major, including prerequisite course grades, cumulative GPA, overall academic record, employment and activities, and the personal statement.
We encourage prospective students to attend a prospective student information session to learn more about the BSECE degree and the admission process. Capacity-constrained admissions
Since 2019, admissions to the major have been through the capacity-constrained admission application and the Direct-to-College (DTC) placement process for Engineering Undeclared (ENGRUD) students. The capacity-constrained admission process is the admission pathway for transfer students and UW interest changers.

Transfer applicant is defined by UW admissions (does not include first-years with Running Start credits, non-matriculated students, or post-baccalaureate students)
UW Interest Changer (non-engineering): A current UW Seattle student who is not an Engineering Undeclared student.

Reminder that the GPAs in the table above are averages. ECE Advising cannot assess a student’s chances of being admitted. It is always recommended to apply for multiple majors at UW or multiple universities.

**2023 also includes BSEE admission & enrollment data. Beginning 2024, BSECE was the only degree option for applicants.
